Wests Tigers have today announced another major global corporation in UD Trucks to its existing base of high profile corporations that now partner the 2005 premiers.
UD Trucks is a product of Nissan Diesel Japan and has been in the Australian market since 1972.
General Manager of UD Trucks, Mr John Bushell, said Wests Tigers were a perfect match for their company.
He added UD Trucks' partnership with Wests Tigers was a key initiative in raising the profile of the company's brand in Australia.
"Our trucks have a reputation for being tough, extremely reliable, and at their best when the going is rugged and tough. Just ask anyone in the back blocks of West Australia or up in the extremes of North Queensland,'' Mr Bushell said.
"For us, having that sort of product made the association with Wests Tigers a natural choice. They go about their job on the field exactly the same way our customers expect our trucks to go to work.''
Wests Tigers CEO Steve Noyce said he was thrilled to have an organisation of the stature of UD Trucks as the shorts sponsor in 2007 .
"It is exciting to know that all of the Wests Tigers major partners including major sponsor Proton Cars, back of jersey sponsor Haier Home Appliances, sleeve sponsor LuiGong Machinery and now UD Trucks are internationally renowned brands, but are keen to work with the Wests Tigers to build their brands in Australia,'' Mr Noyce said.
"The support of UD Trucks and all our other corporate partners is a great confidence boost for the Wests Tigers as we prepare to participate in our first official hit out in 2007 when we take on the Sydney Roosters in the inaugural Foundation Cup at Aussie Stadium on Saturday, February 17.
"Key players Brett Hodgson, Benji Marshall, Bryce Gibbs, Paul Whatuira and Liam Fulton have made successful returns from injury. Their return to a team full of young talent and experience should ensure an exciting season for the 2005 premiers.''
Mr Noyce added the Wests Tigers continue to gain momentum as one of the power houses of the NRL on the back of a very exciting playing roster.
"We were the number one Sydney club for attendances in 2006, as well as one of the most watched teams on TV and now boast some of the best corporate support in the NRL,'' Mr Noyce said.
"The future is very exciting at Wests Tigers and we can't wait for the season to start.''
Following the sponsorship announcement, Mr Bushell joined the Wests Tigers players on the UD Truck for a photo shoot.
